Signs of Spring
Mar 17, 2025
There's just something about spring isn't there? Depending on where you live in the northern hemisphere, you may be enjoying true spring temperatures already. I live vicariously through those of you basking in warmth while I wait for my own corner of the world to catch up.
Alberta is still clinging to its frozen grip. Yet, I'm beginning to notice how the earth is slowly softening after months of frost. There's a quiet shift in the air hinting at change. Brave little buds are emerging, a promise of full bloom to come. Step outside, take a deep breath and observe the earth waking up. Maybe tulips are pushing through the soil, eager for the season ahead. Trees, shrubs, and flowers are all responding to the gentle rise is temperature, preparing for their moments to bloom.
Whether it's a cool spring morning, a windy afternoon, or one of those unpredictable days when the weather can't make up it's mind, spring isn't just a change in season - it's an invitation to come alive. It's as if Mother Nature herself is whispering: Growth takes time, but the wait is always worth it.
Spring doesn't just wake up in the garden - it stirs something inside us, too. If you're anything like me, the second I step outside and breathe in the world around me, I feel an instant shift. It's not just physical, it's also a seasonal nudge, encouraging us to pause and reflect:
- What's been dormant in me that's ready to grow and blossom?
- What old, withered habits am I finally ready to release?
- What does a fresh start look like in this season of my life?
This spring I'm making it a priority to get outdoors more - whether it's sipping coffee on the patio,, walking through the park by the river, or simply wandering my neighbourhood with no agenda other than to gibe a nod and a smile to everyone I make eye contact with. There's something so energizing about reconnecting with the world. And, there's something equally energizing about stepping out of our comfort zone, trying new things, and allowing us to bloom in new ways. Like spring itself, we can lean into the anticipation of all the good things that haven't happened yet, trusting that they're on their way.
If you're feeling that nudge for renewal, here are a few ways we can rise to meet spring, together:
- Simplify Your Space: Clean your closet. Declutter a room. Let go of things and habits that are no longer serving you. Clear your mind and trust your intuition. Less is more when it comes to making room for what truly matters.
- Set a Gentle Intention: Pick one area of your life that could use a little more light and care. Just one for now. Nurture it. It doesn't need to be something monumental - sometimes the smallest tweaks make the biggest difference and bloom the brightest. You'll attract what you focus on.
- Water Your Roots: What makes your heart happy? Connecting with loved ones, walking with friends, starting a new hobby or finally finding the courage to launch a new venture or learn something new and put yourself out there. Nurture what nourishes your soul and say yes to you.
This moment - wherever you are right now - is your season to step forward with beauty, elegance, energy optimism and joy. Embrace the energy of yes, of daring to try, of believing that even if you don't have all the answers now, you'll figure it out along the way. Trust yourself enough to take that leap, knowing that growth - just like spring - unfolds in its own time. Just as the buds don't rush to bloom before they're ready, you don't need to have everything perfect to begin.
Trust that each step will reveal the next, that the light will make you glow, and that you are ready to blossom.
Spring is calling us.
