Parisian Street Style

Paris was pure magic. Although tempted, I didn't take photographs of women on the street. That would be a bit creepy. Today I'm sharing with you my overall observations about the street style.

The fashion choices of women in Paris and North America differ significantly. Women in Paris tend to favour classic, timeless pieces that are tailored to their individual style. They opt for high-quality fabrics and sophisticated silhouettes, such as chic blazers, fitted trousers, dresses with a feminine silhouette and of course the universal item of clothing in every closet -  jeans.

French women understand the *art of the outfit*. They even dress up their jeans more formally than their North American counter-parts, giving clear thought to creating a look, not just throwing on jeans and a tee.  Additionally, the colours and prints chosen by French women are often muted compared to the bright shades favoured here at home. They love stripes and polka dots. (So do I.)

Overall North Americans prefer more casual styles than Parisians. You will not see a woman in athleisurewear as daytime dressing. Interestingly, North American women embrace trends more frequently than those in Paris, making them more likely to experiment with different looks and are more comfortable wearing prints and bright colours. North American women often opt for bolder statement jewelry.

The go-to choice for footwear is the same in Paris as it is here. Flat shoes, classic loafers, sandals and white sneakers are the most worn styles in 2023. Whether it's a pair of classic Converse or a designer pair of Balenciaga's, women in Paris know how to rock their sneaker look and are proving that you don't have to sacrifice style for comfort when it comes to shoes.

Overall, I don't think Parisians have more *je ne sais quoi* than other well-dressed women in the world who claim their unique substance and style sensibilities that reflect their culture.

On a personal note my style is Contemporary/Classic. I love the chic Parisian look. (I'm ready to wear white sneakers now.)
