Have You Pebbled Anyone Today?
Mar 05, 2025
Did you know that when you send someone a funny meme a sweet text a joke or a random TikTok that made you think of them, you're actually pebbling them? The term comes from penguins (okay, last and only animal mention) who drop pebbles at their mate’s feet as a little I’m thinking of you. And in our always-online world, we do the same thing—just with screenshots, messages, and links instead of actual stones.
My husband and I pebble each other all the time, mostly with little love notes. We’ll screenshot sweet memes, a throwback message from years ago, or even something as simple as “Love you, thinking of you” in the middle of a busy day. Often we pebble about travel—especially cruising. Even in the middle of a busy day, it keeps the excitement alive and reminds us of all the adventures still to come. And, don't get me started on how many recipes we screenshot and send each other saying "we should make this" because we love playing in the kitchen.
So, who can you pebble today?A friend who needs a laugh? Someone who shares your travel bug? A person you love but haven’t texted in a while? Someone who needs a little I see you moment. It’s a tiny act, but it keeps us connected, even when life gets chaotic.
I hope my (almost) weekly notes feel like a little pebble of love and encouragement just for you.
Today I'm sending you some (groan worthy) clothing metaphors for life.
- Life advice is like clothing. Try it on and if it doesn't fit, discard and try something else.
- Like clothing, when you finish with a piece of advice that no longer fits, don't throw it away, pass it on to someone it might fit.
- Like clothing, some advice quickly goes out of style, while other advice is timeless.
- Like a great outfit, the best advice is tailored to you. If it feels uncomfortable, maybe it wasn’t made for you in the first place.
- Some advice is like a trendy jacket—fun for a moment but not built to last. Other advice is like a classic trench—timeless, reliable, and always in style.
- The best wisdom, like the best wardrobe pieces, is versatile. You’ll find new ways to wear it as life changes.
- Sometimes, all you need is a fresh perspective—just like switching up accessories can give an old outfit new life.
- The right words at the right time can feel like the perfect cozy sweater—comforting, familiar, and just what you needed.
- Not every “must-have” piece—or piece of advice—is for you. Skip the pressure to wear (or follow) what doesn’t suit you.
And finally…
- Oh wait… one last one. The best pebbles, like the best outfits, make you feel seen, understood, and a little more you.
