Happy Birthday to Me

Now is the time to have open, candid conversations about age. Not about ageing gracefully in submission or becoming invisible. Now is the time to talk about ageing with power, purpose and a newly defined authentic beauty.

Today is my birthday. In my childhood I couldn't wait to get older. In retrospect, I now know that adulting isn't always as fun and freeing as I once thought it would be.

It's impossible to be the age I am and not wonder how I got here. But it also makes me ask the more important question: Where is my life headed and how will I find even more joy, purpose and meaning in the next chapter of my life? 

Truth is, I'm still trying to figure it out. I continue to age with as much grace and gumption as I know how, and year after year it becomes increasingly more and more important to me to stay curious, relevant and bold.

I've always been an advocate of ageing with power. Now in my late 60's my ultimate plan and purpose has come together. My work and goal has always been around making women feel good about themselves. I also want to live a creative life, so seeing the life through the lens of fashion has been a perfect fit for me for over 30 years. I often say style is a powerful tool for personal development.

If life has taught me anything this year, it's that life is now. You've go to go for your dreams now. So when something is important to me I love sharing it with you. This is what I want to tell you today:

Wearing your life well is all about embracing your true potential. Are you ready? Because I believe that within each of us lies an extraordinary story waiting to be told. Often we underestimate our own abilities and settle for less than we deserve.

Always remember that you are the author of your own story. Don't let fear or doubt hold you back from chasing after your dreams and pursuing your passions.

I'm still writing my story.
