Be Your Own Girl Crush
Feb 10, 2021"I don't need roses from a Valentine if I can sip rosé with my Galentines"
We're approaching Galentine's Day. I'm not making that up. It's a real fake holiday. It found its roots on Parks and Recreation as Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope declared it as a day to ditch husbands and boyfriends. Over 10 years later it's still going strong.
It's marked on February 13 every year and it's a time to celebrate your gal pals and the special bonds you have built with each other as you navigate the quirks, absurdities and wonders of life. It's a day to smother your female friends with more love that you usually do.
Sometimes we neglect to give that kind of love to ourselves. I know. Being in a relationship with myself and being true to myself hasn't always been easy for me. I didn't always believe that I deserved to be love. I thought I wasn't good enough or perfect enough.
Finally, I got it.
I realized that no amount of self-improvement could replace self-acceptance and that lead to self-confidence.
I've been friends with myself for a long time now.
What if you simply devoted this month to loving yourself more? How would your life be better?
However your spend Galentines, Valentines or both, I hope all your days are filled with love.
Now give yourself a squeeze (no, really do it).
