Advent of Kindness
Nov 30, 2020Growing up, I always had an Advent calendar. Each day I would open the consecutive cardboard flaps that would reveal a small gift of chocolate. (I loved that they were a different shape every day.) It was also an awesome way to count just *how many more sleeps* until Christmas is finally here.
Each year I give my grandchildren Zoe and Coen one. Along with their Elf on a Shelf, cookie-baking, tree-trimming and other family traditions it makes the holiday season super fun for them.
A few years ago we had a conversation about cultures, traditions and celebrations. I asked them what Christmas traditions are important to them. Without any hesitation they told me *Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's house.*
This year that might not happen.
I want to gift you an adult Advent calendar with a twist. Instead of ending on Christmas Eve it ends on New Year's Eve so we can count down the *how many more sleeps* until 2020 is finally over.
But instead of getting a chocolate, each day is an opportunity to give an act of kindness. I'll post an inspirational prompt on my Facebook page each morning.
Especially during these crazy times, it's important to remind ourselves of our own humanity with simple gestures.
If you haven't already, I invite you to LIKE my Facebook page and join me in spreading more kindness this month.
